“The President must get
Congressional approval before attacking Syria- Big mistake if he does not!”
Donald Trump, August 30, 2013
After the so much
criticized “soft power” interventions by Barack Obama on Middle East and the
impending conflict in Syria provoked by Bashar Al Assad use of chemical
weapons, that left Russia dictator Vladimir Putin as peace mediator
extraordinaire, the story repeats all over again, but, is history repeating
itself again, or is man unable to break the cycle of repeating itself over and
over? This time it was president Donald Trump´s turn to order a missile strike
(without congress approval) on an air base in Syria as a retaliation against Al
Assad regime supposed use of chemical weapons against the civil population, more
than 50 missiles were launched and aimed at a selected point in Syria, apparently,
it was a coordinated attack in which Russian troops were informed before it
happened, but gain it suspiciously raise awareness of how much of it was
premediated before the chemical gas (apparently Sarin gas) attacks, where missiles
really an answer to it? How much of the chemical weapons attacks could be
anticipated by the USA? It could happen just to be used as an excuse for the
attack? Is the attack a more symbolic gesture not only towards Syria, but also towards
the missile exercises of North Korea? Just consider that China´s president Xi
Jingpin is just arriving to the USA, so it apparently looks like a warning of a
new agreement by China and the USA on North Korea hostile activities.
The attack comes
as a multiple blessing for the Trump administration, a perfect smokescreen to
steal attention from the “failure after failure” course of Trump´s government,
the lethal blow inflicted towards the “Trumpcare” initiative, and a way to create
cohesion behind Trump (uniting previously divided Democrats and Republicans
behind Trump) and a way to give a small push to Trump´s decaying popularity
(and a boost to the oil prices and financial markets), also it could be seen as a way to dissuade the
increasing accusations of Russian intervention within Trump´s cabinet, it gives
you the illusion of Trump and Putin fighting each other, by using a foreign
country as their stage, how convenient, and how convenient is the fact that it
leaves the stage ready for Putin to reprise his role as a peace mediator once
again (it looks as if he is desperately in need of a Peace Nobel Price), a role
he played brilliantly during Obama´s administration, when he stopped Obama from
intervene on Syria and agree to coordinate Bashar Al Assad regime disposing of
the chemical weapons) , and one that not only helps Russia´s economy (by
raising oil prices and nationalism) but also one that will help Putin image to be reinforced in
the middle of civil protests against corruption in his government (that might explain why Russia´s antimissile weapons were not used during the missile attacks).
The USA strike on
Syria serves as the perfect earthshattering event that will finally align this
new supposed world order, with Trump and the USA retaking their role as “world´s
police” even with the support of the European Union nations which once reviled
him (and even Israel, Syrian rebels and Turkey´s Erdogan who also backed Trump, perhaps in
exchange of handling him Gülen), it creates the now artificial antagonism between
USA and Russia and helps China move to one side in order to create true tension
between the world´s two biggest economies, it also helps pushing oil prices and
ease tensions in countries like Russia, Iran and China, as a warning to rogue
states like North Korea and Venezuela and finally create an illusion of
approval for Trump and a short reactivation of the USA economy (with financial markets skyrocketing after the attack) after the big disappointment
of his campaign promises, as we said before, there´s nothing more helpful for
an unpopular president than war, Syria will prove to be helpful for Trump and
for Putin, and the next step might be another staged confrontation in Ukraine,
just to return the gesture to Putin (who sacrificed his puppet Al Assad just a
little bit for dramatic effects), so it might be a sign of thing to come in the
Baltic States and the Balkan region, a zone already put under pressure with the
recent terrorist attack in Saint Petersburg subway, the “architects of fear”
are back in business again, just consider how good is becoming Trump becoming at predicting terrorist attacks it won´t belong after a terrorist attack happens in USA soil, and Trump would probably become the rating king all over again, Putin could teach him on that.
