Despite the scenarios presented by diverse world economic institutions, I believe certain things will surprise us in the future, the rise of South Asian countries and the strengthening of a new economical block in Central America, including Colombia, Chile, México and Peru, countries who have learned tough lessons in the past decades, suffered with authoritarianism, corruption, drug wars, this countries, contrary to the so called pink tide countries, an exercise masterminded by Fidel Castro, Lula Da Silva and Hugo Chávez, this block has learned not to depend on oil or raw materials to survive, they have learned, specially México and Colombia, to develop new skills, and along Chile and Peru adjustments in past years, it seems the block is almost ready.

Chile had the first Marxist-Socialist democratically elected government in America, it was destroyed in a brutal coup d etat by its armed forces, and a military dictatorship was established with Augusto Pinochet at command, Chile became a laboratory for new economic theories, and the so called shock therapy, policies developed by Milton Friedman and the so called Chicago Boys, after this economic adjustments, the end of Pinochet regime and a pragmatic turn to the left, Chile developed into one of the leading economies in America, it's just a matter of time for the southern giant to rise up again.

And from Chile comes the hard hitting machine known as Vigilante, an aggressive project practicing powerful techno/industrial sounds that bridge easily the gap between the accessible industrial sounds of Nine Inch Nails and the brostep of Skrillex, all done by one man, Ivan Munoz, along guest musicians Ivan musical proposal is a powerful one concentrated in an adrenaline heavy musical output called Turning Point.

Crossroads is a hard kick on the door, it opens the record in a pretty effective way, as it maneuvers convincingly between the world of hard-hitting rhythm machines and icy synths, while Munoz and company add the quite intriguing inhuman voices m, but is on the following theme, the raw intensity of We Are One where things start really coming together, synthetic guitars roar furiously along acid glimmering bass lines in a theme featuring a detailed and complex production that would make Trent Reznor proud and jealous of.

For Illumination, Munoz changes his approach into something even more rawer a powerful mix of Skinny Puppy Killing Joke and Metallica all rolled into one, Munoz give us a lesson of magnificent songwriting and complex song arranging, although for Kosmos, against icy synths along with hardcore electronic beats drive the tune.

Turning Point is a very amusing recording, a little bit flawed by the somewhat derivative nature of its music, but a strong showing that Munoz has the musical ability to craft a world class, now is just a matter of time for Munoz to dare in order to win, to try something beyond what we have already heard, time to forget a little bit about his heroes and start to create his own path.
