Felisha-Homo Latex Latexus (2016)

The Czech Republic is not only one of the greatest success of the post-communist world, although in recent years, getting to close to Putinism could bring back some trouble, it is also home of this totally awesome extreme band named Felisha, a band that seems to be not only bringing back the kinky attitude of bands like The Cramps and the Genitorturers, but also minimal hardcore riffing that reminds me of The Misfits heavy Earth A.D. era and grindcore like sound that might be inspired by bands like Carcass, just check out opener Felch from the band's record Homo Latex Latexus with its Green Hell inspired guitars, the band's guitars and dynamic are superb, bringing memories of great death n roll ad southern metal alike.

And talking about southern metal influences check out the great intro to If Your Age on the Clock, You are Right for My Cock, in which the band seems to be playing with old AC/DC riffing into something that sounds almost like an inside version of Whole Lotta Rosie at times, but featuring a brutal growling vocalist.

For Swingers Eve, the band again brings forward their razor sharp guitars recorded red hot on the mix, that and some clever swinging riffing for some of their hotter than hell grooves, it's amazing to listen to Felisha's ability to mix genres and to create music that is both full of great swagger and at the same time so heavy, perhaps a little weak on the production but with very solid performances that make up immediately for any production inconvenience.

Great guitars again are the absolute stars in I Loved You since the First Time I Sawed You, a devastating piece with brutal grindcore influences and a great ear for melody with the band doing wonders here in what could be the most remarkable tune in this collection.

NOLA's influence and more than a touch of oozing Sabbath riffs are the raw matter for She's Too Young for Summer Night, a slow paced, doom laden tune without much purpose, with the band going really heavy on their grindcore side on the so disturbing its funny Cum, Till I Feel like Pissing.

What these Czech guys remind me most is great guitar heavy music, call it Entombed or Carcass at their most rock n rolling, or even that little known grindcore band Unseen Terror, whose crazed guitar sound was truly of apocalyptic nature.

Homo Latex Latexus is great rocking stuff from this Czech guys who are without a doubt true musical kamikazes that play as if their life depend on it, the gruesome lyrics might be a little over the top, but the way this guys manage to create such infectious grooves is simply engaging, showing that their brand of extreme music, deep within, has some really great understanding of what true rock n roll is all about, great swinging, infectious song, and lots of sex, it might not be too cerebral, but it's perfect for the headbanging, a truly enjoyable record.
