The New Bermudas Triangle

The New Bermudas Triangle

“There is not Communism or Marxism, but representative democracy and social justice in a well-planned economy.”
 Fidel Castro

It's really hard to try to get a clear idea of what's going on in Cuba, this weekend the historical visit of a USA president to the communist Caribbean Island looks to many as a warm wind of change blowing over the island as Air For One lands in a country where freedom took so much to arrive, this definitely does not look like freedom but is something.

Fidel Castro is a smart wolf, the longest running dictator on Erath a political animal, a parasite, a leech and the best email I can think of what's called real politik, a man who led a small army in order to free a small island inspired by the words of original Cuban hero José Marti, immediately after a small initial defeat, Castro regrouped his army and managed to create a movement that would end up filling the idealistic dreams of many in America, and in the world, Castro might not have betrayed himself, but he betrayed those who saw him as a romantic freedom fighter, those who saw him as an Hidalgo, or a Bolivar, like on those Star Wars movies, the Anakin Skywalker got seduced by the dark side, and like George Orwell used to say, "created a revolution in order not to destroy dictatorship,  but to impose a new one", as dictator Fulgencio Batista left Cuba defeated, and Castro marched into Cuba's capital La Habana, he also revealed himself as a Marxists and turned to the URSS communist regime for support, starting an unfriendly relationship with the USA that lasted for decades, that brought the world close to a nuclear war, and a long history of tough times for Cuba society.

Castro was smart, and his association with the USSR granted him financial support, rubles flew from Moscow to La Habana along with oil, but as the USSR collapsed in the beginning of the 90's Castro's parasite dictatorship needed a new host to survive, Castro, always a man with a vision, and a history genius, studied well how the Soviet shadow was installed in an underdeveloped country, and how a big country, and natural resources were needed to create social unrest in order to install socialism, Fidel needed not to look farther than America this time in order to revitalize socialism and create a new utopia of what could be a new union of socialist republics in America.

Wisely, Castro identified the biggest economy in South America and the resources richest country in the continent, Brazil and Venezuela were key places for Fidel's new plan, and Brazil's Lula Da Silva, a union leader, and Hugo Chávez, a military lieutenant became key pieces in Castro's chess master vision, it was a continental plan that would kick start in the Sao Paulo Forum, a forum that brought together all the left wing forces in America in order to develop a new strategy for them to survive, the USSR collapse meant no more financial aid for guerrilla war, it meant new strategies including populism, democratic dictatorship, drug trade, union pressure, victimization of left wing movements and using the rising oil prices as a leverage for development, a new ideology, Socialism del Siglo XXI was created in order to mask authoritarianism as a new type of social democracy, when in reality it was the criminal convergence of left wing policies, criminal financial findings and populist strategies.

So now, with Cuba opening its door to a new relationship with the USA, is a matter of time to understand what Fidel and Raúl´s new plan will be about, first, it seemed that they were aiming towards a new commercial relationship with China, just like the rest of South America, it looked like Cuba was aspiring to adopt a Singapore like strategy, but after China´s amazing growth slowed down in recent years, the big U turn was done towards the USA, where it could be heading into a new strategy to include a “Bermudas” like triangle of commerce, technology and resources exploitation conglomerate between Cuba, México and the USA.
