Welcome To Hell, G19?
Welcome To Hell, G20?

“The times when we could completely rely on others are, to an extent,
over…”
Angela Merkel
That was the welcome phrase to the meeting of the 20
leaders of the most powerful nations in the world by the anti-globalist and
anarchist community gathered in Hamburg, anti-globalist? So, are they on the
side of Trump and May protectionist policies? Or are they against China, the
new promoter of open markets? Are they against Merkel and Macron who seem to be
the winners on the liberal vs. populism battle fought recently in European
soil? Or are they on the side of the rising tide of illiberal leaders headed by
Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan among others? Are they against new
authoritarian neo Chavista leaders like Jeremy Corbyn, Jean Luc Mélenchon,
Pablo Iglesias, Bernie Sanders? Or are they in favor or Marine Le Pen, Geert
Wilders and Nigel Farage? Thinks get a little confusing here, we know the world
is angry, but are we angry about what? Are we using anger the right way? Or are
we still running angry towards a cliff, life in the Brexit or in the USA
elections?
Inside the meeting it was a mix of "love is in
the air " and some uncomfortable reunions, as the so much expected reunion
between USA president Donald Trump and Russian Czar Vladimir Putin, as anyone
knew there was no tension, just friendly "bromance", I guess no one
dreamed of Trump facing and defying Putin, obviously Trump is grateful with
Putin for handling him the USA presidency, Putin says that German Chancellor
Angela Merkel is the European leader he respects the most, but one can't help
but notice how uncomfortable is Trump when next to Merkel and vice versa, , and
now, how close seems to be China's strongman Xi Jingping with Merkel, so when
it comes to themes like environmental crisis and free trade, Trump is the new
villain and gets as isolated as Putin's Russia is, and perhaps as Turkey's
Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan also is, with Trump and Erdogan ending up as two
unwanted guests at Hamburg, and well interesting to remark here, that Trump
will be welcomed with more investigations now about his son meeting with a Russian
lawyer at the time of the elections, and Erdogan meeting with massive civil
protests against his arbitrary concentration of power.
Despite the current star status of Emmanuel Macron in
France, or the revitalized political power of Angela Merkel in Germany, there
is still anger in the people, anger towards power, and Hamburg and the G20 were
the perfect excuses to make a public demonstration, the political isolation
towards Trump is also evident and will exhaust USA in the long run, is also
obvious Trump´s embarrassing “empathy” towards Putin, who is already isolated
by the USA government and the EU, but Trump, as seen in his visit to Poland, is
still looking to find the cracks in the system (and there are quite a few),
looking to achieve what started with the Brexit, the weakening and final breakup
of the European Union, which if successful, will end up being beneficial to
Putin in the long run, as he will be able to exercise more and more influence
on the zone.
But even more significant than everything else, is how
degraded is power these days, how power is seen in the eyes of the people these
days, there is a bit of hope in people like Macron and Merkel, but deception
keeps growing up everywhere else, we already know what will happen if Merkel
and Macron fail on their quest towards freedom, liberalism and social
improvement, despite G20 representing more than the 85% of the global GDP, and
concentrating 75% of the global trade, still, deception coming from a rejection
of the Paris Agreement on (environment) and of the TPP and NAFTA (on free trade),
by the USA, has put the world in the uncomfortable position of being almost all
together against the USA (a G19?), not exactly the most positive result, although in a
world where Europe looks revitalized, China and Japan and India´s presence still
grows, there is a sign that things will chance and that the global board will
suffer some alterations that will make globalization, trade and environmental
concerns carried on in a multilateral manners in order to keep growing strong,
with or without Trump.
