Fuck It All- The Smoke of the Barricade (2015)

For me, great music can come from the most unexpected places on Earth, it could be the afro beat dynamo of Fela Kuti in Nigeria, the kaleidoscopic sound of Os Mutantes in Brazil, the desert blues of Tinariwen in Malí, the Siberian punk rock of Egor Letov in Russia or the dissident music of Porno Para Ricardo in Cuba, always fresh, always daring, always rebellious and inspirational, you know when you are listening to something great in the first seconds, language takes second place, first is how it sounds and how it feels, and that's the case of Belarus' Fuck It All, a band decidedly emerged in a hard place under difficult circumstances, in what is known as the las “European dictatorship”, in a place where it looks like the URSS never ceased to exist, but with a name like Fuck It All, you bet these guys are risking it all.

With a record named In The Smoke of the Barricade, Fuck It All is a really combative bunch, fast abrasive guitars and gang like vocals, FIA brand of music is equally taking influence from the worlds of heavy metal and hardcore punk, taking cues form some great corssover acts before them, first theme Your Choice quickly clarifies the band vocation, asking society to decide, while next song, the title track features angrier drums and a direct attack to the enslaving Belarusian regime pretending to convert citizens into zombies without will.

For the third track, roughly translated into Hostage Capital, the band uses ultra-fast beats and screaming guitar solos, the band waste no time in adding ornate arrangements, they are quick and to the point and sharp as a knife, tough guys this bunch, the next song is named Rugby, the brutal stripped down father of the American Football, featuring a more prevalent use of melody, this before going into the all-out brutally intensity of Are You Ready?, a definite call for action.

This amphetamine fueled record ends with the hip hop influenced, bizarrely titled "...", where the bands shows again it's fearless instincts daring to be different in a place where authorities seem more worried in creating an homogenous society, but as their name implies, FIA is not interested in adjusting to the rules, and they are saying it loud, demonstrating that great music has no nationality, skin color or language, it has heart and guts, that simple, do yourself a favor and take advantage of Internet, and the chance it give us to listen to music from all over the world, not just conform to what the big labels want to give you, make your own choices.
