Suicidal Tendencies- World Gone Mad (2016)

Suicidal Tendencies- World Gone Mad (2016)

By: Ghost Writer

Nothing better to start a complex week, than some good old thrash metal to band your head and go a little crazy, and whom better for it than legendary California band Suicidal Tendencies, that oldie but goodie band that evolved from street skate punk fanfare into full-fledged thrash metal giant, in order to become a total classic within the genre.

World Gone Mad is the band's newest effort, reportedly, just as in their previous 13, as the last in the band´s history, and in weird titled opener Clap Like Only, we can immediately hear ST newest massive destruction weapon, born again punk drummer Dave Lombardo, the veteran member in the almighty Slayer, who after playing a couple of dates with the newly reunited Misfits, found also a place to record with St, also important to notice here the stellar bass work of newcomer Ra Diaz who slaps like crazy on his bass for this song, displaying great chemistry playing with Lombardo, in this great hyper speedy way of starting such a great record.

Classic moshing thrash metal appears on The New Degeneration, a powerful song that would make New York´s mosh gods Anthrax jealous, featuring great screaming leads by both guitarists of the band, letting the speeds continue on the cosmic madness of Living for Life, another great tune displaying the diversity this band is capable of achieving through its great instrumentalist and the savage attack of singer and long lasting member Mike Muir.

While Get Your Fight On! Is impressively pulverizing, is on the title track where the band shines instrumentally again, creating a heavy grooving tune impossible to escape from, totally infectious like the bands alter ego, that, and again the ultra-heavy sinister riffing of Happy Never After, make up for an extraordinary and possibly last record for this metal thrashing mad, long lasting rebel unit, who despite years and years in the underground, are still able to come up with impressive densely packed, unexpected melody whirlwinds like Damage Control, again with great guitars and brutal drumming.

World Gone Mad, in case it is, is an impressive goodbye by a band that deserved more attention than the one they finally got, in mi mind, Suicidal Tendencies did as much in order to expand the Thrash Metal landscape as Canadian high tech thrashers Voivod, in the end, Thrash Metal is still alive and very well, it became a global phenomenon still going strong, and in case this is the las ST record, the band is going undisturbed and undefeated as one of the definite Champions of the genre, a celebration made music, be happy because this music will live forever.
