Democrats Can’t Find Their Way
Democrats Can’t Find Their Way

“Estoy en un gobierno
de izquierda, sin vergüenza ... pero también quiero trabajar con personas de la
derecha que se comprometen a los mismos valores.”
Emmanuel Macron
In what seemed to be an important test to how much
Republicans have lost because of Donald Trump´s awful presidency, the Democrats suffered a very painful defeat
in the Georgia elections for the Sixth district, too many factors seem to play
in such sonorous fall, in a way it looks that Democrats still, and that's an
enormous mistake, are trying to figure out how, not to win over Republican
voters, but to recover Democrats previous voters that went to the Republicans
that ignited the Party failure in 2006 elections, Democrats seem still unable
to correctly dissect the reasons why, despite Trump unending chain of mistakes,
they haven't been able to capitalize on it and to connect with the people, just
as the Republican Party has successfully managed to cast the Democratic Party
as "the establishment " thus still been perceived by society in
general as part of the ruling elite that has been responsible for the
concentration of wealth in just a few hands.
Jon Ossoff, the Democrat's candidate for Georgia
looked a lot like a confusing mess, a young once filmmaker, born in 1987 (a millennial),
looked more like a continuation of the political line of ex-president Barack
Obama, more closely to be a Nancy Pelosi (leader of the Democrats) puppet,
rather than a young outsider, closer to Emmanuel Macron, that might be the
original Party intention, it almost look as if the Democrats batteries are more
focused and concentrated on the Russian hacking scandal and on impeaching
Trump, rather than on creating a true value offering as a Party, just as things
look, it all could end becoming a pyrrhic victory in which the ousting of Trump
could end in another crushing electoral defeat for the Democrats, which might
become a worthy chance not well analyzed, diagnosed and used, it´s almost dramatic to witness how Democrats "can´t understand, that they don´t understand..."
Time is running now against Pelosi, who instead of
Ossoff, could be the true loser in the elections, as her leadership didn't
stood up to the test, this is the time for Democrats to renew their message and
perhaps "give people what they want " a little bit, it could be the
right moment to go to the social roots of the Party, and make a good use of the
Bernie Sanders experience, it seems that millennials more than ever are enthusiastic
about left wing politics, and someone like Bernie Sanders could be less dangerous
than someone like UK´s Jeremy Corbyn, this is the time for the Democrats to
truly become the Party of the People instead of the Party of the elite, Obama´s
brand of populism crashed down and lost people´s hope which opened the door for
another (more radical) populist: Trump, so it might be time to fight fire with
fire and come up with some truly progressive left wing liberal who could stood
up against the Republican Party, if people like Corbyn and Jean Luc Mélenchon
in France had been able to capture the spirit of the moment, it’s time for the Democrats
to renew their leadership in order stop been seen as what they shouldn’t be,
forget about elites and think more about the people, it´s not exactly about
becoming a socialist Party, but it’s time to start thinking about the people,
about the future and about community.
