Nuevo Léon and México in State of Shock
Nuevo Léon and México in State of Shock

“Extreme violence has
a way of preventing us from seeing the interests it serves.”

Today, Pope
Francis arrives to México, just like what happened in Brazil a couple of years ago,
Francis visit in the middle of a Mexican crisis, just like
Brazilian government attempted, looks like a way for the Mexican president to legitimize his
government, it worked for Brazil, it gave president Dilma Rousseff a small
breath but in México, things could end up worse, again, like in Brazil.
Yesterday
in Monterrey, Nuevo León the most important city in the north of México, a
rival gang fight erupted at the Topo Chico Penitentiary, the outcome? Nearly 50 inmates killed, reported as a
mutiny by media it's not an accurate description, understanding than in a mutiny,
inmates rebel against penitentiary authorities, in Topo Chico, there are no
authorities, crime lords are the authorities, so it was basically one group of
inmates killing and torturing another, in what is known as the worst penitentiary
tragedy ever happened in the history in México.
What we are
seeing in Monterrey, Nuevo León, is a direct reflection of what is happening
all over the country, violent fight between criminal groups with authorities
just watching actionless, why? Simply, it's pure therapy shock designed by fear architects by
letting this sort of things happen in order to confuse society making them
vulnerable to manipulation, similar to what happened in September 11th, Topo
Chico Penitentiary tragedy is a mix of criminal groups acting, and authorities letting
it happen, the events occurred for hours without authorities intervention,
Jaime Rodríguez, Nuevo León governor declared weeks before, that he was
interested in privatizing prisons, in the middle of a financial crisis in Nuevo
León, letting prison slip into private hands looked convenient for the government,
so in a way, the events and it's dimension, kind of give weight to Rodríguez
intentions, but things went farther from there.
Another
shock therapy is applied in Nuevo León, as a series of events started happening
way before Topo Chico tragedy, executions, extortions, bank robbery and
corruption are starting to show up at alarming rates, Rodríguez, an independent
candidate whose main campaign proposal was to jail corrupt politicians and go
against the establishment and the traditional political party system, seems to
be part of the problem, as all this chain of events seems directed at damaging
Rodríguez administration, big problem here, is that Rodríguez looks more worried to
promote his image as potential president candidate for 2018, rather than
governing the state, leaving thus a vacuum for attacks, crime propagation and general turmoil in Nuevo
León, the bitter part is that Rodríguez might be letting this happen in order
to get social approval for privatizing prisons, local politicians might be
letting this happen in order to sabotage Rodríguez administration, and federal
government might be letting all these things happen in order to politically
attack Rodríguez independent image in order for tradition political parties
to comeback to power, all this, at the precise moment of Pope Francis arrival to
the country, with the world's attention in México, in a controversial visit
that could help to legitimate an unpopular government, or ignite more social
disapproval of it, giving more shock therapy in the middle of a country where
some people believe drug lords are more trustworthy than authorities.
