Telling Desperate Lies
After the acrimonious
defeat of the so called independent candidates last Sunday on Mexico´s state
elections, it was a little bit confusing to read on Milenio newspaper ex
Chancellor Jorge Castañeda suddenly change his discourse on independent
candidates, he declined to talk about the performance of this type of
candidates, the biggest losers on the polls, apparently the performance of
Jaime Rodriguez on Nuevo León prompted voters to discard independent candidates
as an viable option, Castañeda a very wise man, quickly turned his speech onto
basic income, a little populist tale about giving a fixed basic income to the
population, it seems that Castañeda is using a new strategy, closer to that of
Chief of CDMX Miguel Angel Mancera, who has recently proposed an increase on
minimum wage, it´s deceptive to read Castañeda changing course and now taking
populist proposals as his new flag, he even names The Economist, I guess
Castañeda thinks that no one reads The Economist, in case he imagined that, he
is wrong, and The Economist is considering not viable to apply basic income
under “normal” circumstances, considering only for a future scenario in which
employment disappears under the advance of very sophisticated technology, shame
on you Mr. Castañeda, your chances of becoming a competent independent
candidate are simply falling apart.
