Krisiun- Forged In Fury (2015)
“My greatest desire is
that the hope that has overcome fear in my country will help vanquish it around
the world.”
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva

For countries like Chile, Mexico and Argentina the target seems to be leading Latin America, but Brazil, when they are truly decided, aim to lead the world, and I'm sure it’s a matter of time and more refinement of the vision in order for them to achieve success, just like they have done in sports, music and energy, it’s just a matter of diversifying risks, opening their economy, reinforce the rule of law and put ideology aside, and Brazil will recovers from the current crisis in a fast way, they have done it before and they can do it again.
And speaking about music, beside the classic extreme metal bands we all know and love like Sepultura and Sarcofago, other bands like Krisiun are bringing Brazil´s brand of brutal Death/Thrash metal to the front, they see no barriers and they have world class quality to compete with the most extreme musical acts in the world, with 10 records already under their belts, this tribe of metal warriors are really demonstrating that they belong to the upper ranks of global extreme metal.
Forged in
Fury is a perfect example of Krisiun no prisoner attitude ad they immediately
set their aim to create a powerful loud blasting records that really leaves
their musical rivals numb, from the beginning we get the powerful gargantuan
vocals of Alex Camargo perfectly matched by pulverizing musical arrangements by
Camargo itself on bass and the brothers Kolesne on guitar and drums, the band
are a perfect example of that third world musical violence, Max Cavalera used
to describe Sepultura´s musical approach, here Krisiun display an equal if not
rawer attack that proves the band is ready to became Brazil next amazing metal
export to the world.
Opener
Scars of the Hatred brings forth the devastating combination of highly
technical guitar lines and brutal blasts of beats driven by a stone carving
bass and a brutal drum work, the band dynamics are that a of a monster
jackhammer hitting brutally against pure granite, their hardcore roots are
undeniable as they storm at hyper speed creating an earth shattering tune that
quickly sets the mood for the rest of the record, as Ways of Barbarism uses a
similar formula, only relaxing a little bit the powerful tension for precise moments
adding new dimensions and pure black magic guitar fury.
But rather
than falling in a monotone trap, the band quickly mutates their approach in
Dogma of Submission and Strength Forged in Fury themes where they apply the use
heavy grooves in order to create irresistible cadence, with slow sections
brutally carried by bass and drums on the first one, and with a more piercing
attack of guitar in the second one where guitars really shine and give a very
particular dimension to the spiraling nature of the song, but is in the intro
to Soulless Impaler where the band give themselves a chance to try something
really different, slowly building a more riff based theme that really works
wonders, giving the song a really strong structure and making it more immediate
to the listener, showing bits of the greatness that made Sepultura big form the
beginning.
Forget In
Fury may sound a little repetitive at times, but it´s in its most unique parts
where the band starts showing really promising sounds and signs that evolution
towards something bigger is already taking place, and its thanks to the all or
nothing Brazilian attitude that Krisiun and Brazil will overcome hard times and
will aim again at the top, reaching it sooner or later.
