The Terrorist Within

The Terrorist Within

“Everybody's worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it.

Recently on July the fourth, the U.S. commemorated their independence day, it was a celebration characterized by extreme security measures precipitated by the fear of a terrorist attack, and the Islamic State is a constant figure of tension for the West, although this organization has not realized any official attack outside the Middle East.

After September 11, fear became the common denominator among West nations, paranoia drove governments to implement extreme surveillance measures even invading citizen privacy in order to intercept any foreign menace, it didn't stopped the Tsarnaev brothers bomb attack, it didn't stopped Charlie Hebdo attack in France, it didn't stopped Breivik attack in Norway, nor tenths of attacks in schools and other places in the U.S., why? Because the enemy is within the system, not outside of it, even September 11 was perpetrated by individuals with legally acquired U.S. Entrance permission, the other horrible terrorist big reference, the McVeigh bombing, was done by a U.S. Citizen, Charlie Hebdo? Was done by French Muslims.

Today's terrorists are way too different from the ones the government tried to sell us, they are not bearded guys coming from the Middle East, they are West types disenchanted with the government, with politics, with the economy or with many other social issues, Timothy McVeigh was an American citizen, he was angry because of the violent way the government handled the Waco incident, in Norway, Anders Breivik justified his actions accusing Europe of being complacent about the growth of Islamic population.

In the U.S. recent attacks to the population have happened in schools, and churches motivated mainly by racial matters, white supremacist have taken guns and bombs and perpetrated bloody acts against afro American minorities and children at schools.

The feared Islamic State, the violent fundamentalist subversive group, offspring of Al Qaeda hasn't perpetrated any organized official action outside the territory where it was originated, his terrible actions have been done in Iraq and Syria, territories where it was born, it seems that it contained advance has been a factor for the powers in the West not taking direct actions against the extremist group.

Although not exactly a terrorist group, the Mexican teacher's union known as the CNTE has been performance acts of civil disobedience with an alarming inclination toward violence, creating fear by blackmailing state and federal governments and even daring to obstacle elections, blackmailing governors and political parties, using their power to block streets and educational reforms (such as include English and computation in the school study programs) and refusing professional evaluations in Michoacán, Guerrero and Oaxaca, the states with the more aggravated deficit in education, not exactly a terrorist group, the CNTE had adopted despicable terror methods such as kidnapping teachers who favor evaluation methods and educational reforms, undressing them and cutting all their hair in public, if this is not terrorism, extremism or fundamentalism, I don't know what is? The enemy is within.

The world should change their definition of terrorism and prepare to fight this new kind of internal degeneration, search for the root of it and start working to dismantle it.
