Who cares if Franz Ferdinand are definitely not one of my favorite bands? Who cares if I despise them? FFS is the offspring of FF and LA legendary pop group Sparks and is probably the best thing you will listen to this year, this, their 2015 debut is a monumental proof of both partners in crime enormous talent and is one of the most exciting records I have heard this year, the songs are crafted perfectly in order to exhibit both partners great talents, the great voice of Alex Kapranos going alone with the soaring high vocals of the might Russel Mael.

The meeting of this two bands remind me of the old/youth collaboration between two big favorites of mine, Lou Reed and Metallica, bringing nothing but the best of both bands, creating a new beast driven by the more experienced part but infusing the new blood of the less seasoned one, as this is significantly the most solid record FF has done in their career and one of the highlights in Sparks long quirky pop career, British/German band Von Sudenfed also comes to my mind in this category with The Fall´s Mark. E Smith bark accompanied by Mouse on Mars impressive electronica input.

Johnny Delusional is an outstanding opener showing the best of this seamlessly integrated combo, with manic intensity driven rhythms and great ascending falsettos making amazing magic on this baroque pop tune, the mystic of old Spaks tunes is all over the place, the insistent piano lines of the always stoic brother Ron Mael, and muscled revamped sound thanks to the FF boys, a touch of pure musical elegance takes place as the band tackles the awesome Call Girl, a song that would kill someone like Bryan Ferry of pure envy, as the band manages to bring out LA nastiness and mixes it with euro pop elegance.

Great piano and guitar lines serve as opener to another great baroque piece called Dictator´s Son with a great melody and desperate vocals that achieve amazing heights and play in an astute way with start stop dynamics, while Police Encounters is a piece of icy cold electronics with great vocals that quick deviate in new wave with quirky overtones reminding us of Devo nervous crazy melodies, this is pop at its best, but forget about plastic pop, because this is really energetic and artistic cerebral pop, full of drama and sexy touches.

Great tunes fill the rest of the record with Save Me From Myself distilling pure classic Sparks genius, while powerful The Man Without Tan leans more towards Franz Ferdinand, but one of this record great tune is saved for the last, as Piss Off explodes with jaw dropping energy, reiterating that this is one of the greatest records of the year, and yes, you don't need to love FF in order to get crazy over FFS, and if you do enjoyed those old bizarre Sparks records, This FFS is definitely for you.
