Recycling the Old Tragic Nationalism

We hear a drum roll and is that a canon more (not new) is added to the hype and dish of irrational nationalist stupidity that we have already perceived in the so-called "Lopezobradorismo", now millennials, oblivious to the economic setbacks of the 70s , they proudly outline the words "energetic nationalism", as if this term was a kind of new, innovative liturgy, which is not true at all, just turn your eyes a little back to see that it is nothing other than recycling of the failed strategies of countries like Russia or Venezuela more recently, through which their economy and politics were based on the use of oil as a "lever of development", the result, needless to say that we know it perfectly, a kind of total dependence on market prices (which both collectivists planners detest) and the decline in industry diversification in favor of a ubiquitous oil industry, needless to say that who in these days intends to use oil as a "lever of development" of the same irresponsible way in which the government of José López Portillo did in the 70s-80s, should seek its obvious conclusion in the severe crisis unleashed beginnings of the 80s in the country, the fall and extinction of the USSR (with a rampant technological obsolescence) and the debacle still persistent in the so-called "Bolivarian Revolution" in Venezuela (with a Nicolás Maduro recently admitting that all the government´s political and economic strategies have failed in this oil-rich country and today with a hyper-inflation that seems almost impossible to escape).

The "Lopezobradorismo" is nourished precisely in that current of renewal of "Revolutionary Nationalism" occurred during the presidency of Lopez Portillo (after the beta started by Lázaro Cárdenas, also based on oil was exhausted), precisely the period in which it was born the political career of Andrés López, that "Lopezportillista revolutionary nationalism" that sought to use oil as a "lever of development" and that became an ultra-corrupt, wasteful, irresponsible government (with disastrous subsidies that opened gaps in the national economy, that still today we are still paying), lacking in vision, that at the outset summoned the Mexican to prepare to "manage wealth" and then invented imaginary enemies to justify the failure by pointing out "that they had been looted", since the looters were in the same government and prepared their escape to live as kings in France, or in the case of Echeverría, who as president was considered one of the richest men in the world (by foreign publications, since the nationals were silenced violently) and today still a real estate mogul in the country, that much-touted term today "energetic nationalism" is nothing but the recycling of the nefarious practices of the "old PRI" in the 70s, the decadent USSR of the 80s and the current Venezuela, a mutation of the pseudo religious "revolutionary nationalism” that today resembles a religious sect on the verge of becoming "mainstream", which probably takes its force, a new quasi-political religion with its infallible messiah, which is not questioned at all, attributed to almost supernatural qualities, which is only obeyed, that he imparts "social justice" in the imagination of his parishioners and that he pontificates and purifies sinister characters by his own will, converting them into national heroes, before whom no criticism is admitted, rewriting the story in his opinion.

The "lopezobradorismo", "lopezportillismo", "revolutionary nationalism" or "energetic nationalism" is basically the same strategy failed again and again, the same quasi-religion that tries to cloud the minds and intoxicate the senses, which speaks of providing a well-being, which in the end results in an idolatry and thickening of the state, in a renewal of the hegemonic power of a single party, in the awakening of a blinding, childish and irrational nationalism that in no way ends up transmitting to society, at the end of accounts is sold as a definition and social approach that has more in common with classical fascism (with its government pretending to intrude to the last corner of life, dictating moral issues or even spiritual, based on a messianic leadership, with a system capitalist controlled by a growing bureaucracy, creating a cartel or union of accomplices with the productive organs of the nation aka corporatism, imposing a sclerotic planning system that restricts liberties, with an omnipresent government as the only protagonist of the national life) instead of a true social conscience left wing, really retrograde and nationalist that so many times pretended to sell the PRI to the country, finally, it is sold again just under a  name, again with presumed leftist wing pretension and with that quasi-religious nationalism, recycling terminology that links it easily with great known failures.
