Root Cause
Root Cause

Regarding
the problems of the country, we continue to try to correct the symptoms and we
do not realize where the roots of our evils really are, corruption, dishonesty,
insecurity, inequality become some of the factors that both the old and the new
administration used and will use to build their agenda, away from real causes,
the old administration diagnoses issues such as corruption as something
cultural, while the new administration places corruption as the central axis of
all the problems of the Mexican.
An
important part to solve any problem is to identify the root cause beyond just
alleviating the symptom, otherwise, the most likely thing is that the source of
the problem is still there, and then we end up with a bigger problem, because
we cannot change the situation of our "patient", in this case the
same country that has been dealing with these problems for decades without the
administrations in succession having been unable to resolve it, provoking after
the year 2000, when the so-called "perfect dictatorship" was broken,
a great disappointment of the supposed "democracy" acquired by the
country.
And that´s
the issue with security and corruption, seeing them as symptoms without having
the cause root, the true origins of these, impunity, above all, a
"corporatist" system that made "accomplices" to virtually
every sector of the country, a corporatist system that gave birth to the
hegemonic PRI that we met from his birth in times of Lázaro Cárdenas, a system
in which military, politicians, businessmen, trade unions, peasants and other
sectors of the population lived together, where impunity was guaranteed in
exchange of complicity, if you were complicit, you could hardly denounce
corruption and it was harder to punish it, hence the rampant impunity giving
fertile ground for corruption, insecurity and other worse issues that were
developed.
Another
issue that should become key in the national agenda besides impunity, is
informality, a theme that in a few months or in the first years of the new
government will become more and more visible, as a thermometer of why such a
good path we will go through. next years, how can the tax system be configured
to include all the country in the taxpayer base? The IVA (Added Value Tax)
would be one of the most efficient ways to reduce this gap between the
population, not the consumption tax over the productivity tax that we currently
have, the orientation of the productive sector to the welfare of the whole
country through taxes, true competitiveness of markets by eliminating unfair
competition, worker protection through the formalization of their employment,
the elimination of bribes, difficult to detect in a non-formal sector, etc., we
want to address issues such as social inequality, salaries and social security?
We need to combat informality head-on and efficiently, not to address this
issue will continue to exacerbate the issue of inequality, the issue of corruption,
the issue of insecurity, the issue of the country's economic strength and the
issue of the strength of the social security system.
Another key
issue is that of education, beyond the myopia that is intended to sell with singular
charm about diminishing perceptions or dismissal of large parts of the
bureaucracy (which is in the formal sector, by the way), is the issue of
education What type of professionals are being trained in universities, and how
productive are they? Is the country creating first-class professionals who can
compete creating value like the professionals of Germany, Switzerland, France,
Singapore or South Korea, or are we only creating cheap labor to compete with
China, or India? How prepared are the professionals to be able to generate
value and justify their salaries? As it must happen with education
professionals, how is the public service being evaluated? As education fulfills
its function of enabling graduates to create value, and not just being one more
piece of the labor link we can see productivity increase and that's where part
of the government's work will begin to keep those professionals in key
positions and well paid, otherwise, we get stuck in the cycle of mediocrity, we
educate poorly to have cheap labor and pay bad salaries, so the problem is not
solved, it is not solved by opening the doors of universities to all whoever
wants to enter them, not apt, does not stir up building classrooms left and
right, we have already seen how these works are used to divert resources,
education, with technological developments nowadays no longer requires
classrooms, but penetration and access to the network to the remotest places in
the country.
We should
not get lost with the symptoms, but detect and attack the root causes, fight
impunity, informality and increase the real quality of education, is imperative
at this time.
A good wish
more? Reduce campaign time, reduce the time the president-elect takes office,
reduce authorized advertising to parties and reduce the budget allocated to
each of them.
