In his famous song "When the Music It's Over", the legendary singer and lyricist Jim Morrison, of The Doors, used to exclaim: "We want the world and we want it already!", I consider what Morrison really meant , it was something very different: "We want all the drugs and we want them already!", We know what was his sad ending due to this untimely desire to have things immediately, of not being able to wait for them, dead at age 27, a worn body, far beyond his age, a heart exhausted with just three decades, in truth "Do we want everything and we want it already?" Are we still obsessed with fast living and "All at Once?"

It seems that girls and boys, for example, would like to skip their childhood and quickly enter adulthood, sometimes very quickly, so much so that an important part of emotional development seems to be staying aside, it is no surprise that the rate of adolescent pregnancies go in accelerated increment, or that unrecognized paternity grows, or worse, that young married couples today prefer to have a couple of dogs to have a child, "We want the kingdom of heaven, but we do not want to God in him, "Johnny Cash would say in the song The Wanderer, one of my favorites.

A new generation that reveres the "selfie", that photograph of oneself, taken by oneself, and that is an immediate cause of satisfaction, or of dissatisfaction. What would happen if we told the new youths that they have to take their photographic scroll to a development center and wait a couple of days to see those images of themselves? Could they wait? I certainly doubt it, it draws my attention to the strong claims to my person when I do not answer my mobile phone, make me ask "And before there were mobile phones, what did you do with that desperation and anxiety?" "Wait until I get home and I'll dial you from my landline." Could they wait without tearing off their skin?

I was a total lover of encyclopedias in my childhood, I spent hours reading them from "A" to "Z", it was a beautiful experience that unfortunately the new generations will not have, for them there is the internet, Wikipedia, all the knowledge of the world within reach of your fingers and eyes immediately, when I wanted to find out about my favorite group of adolescents, the Velvet Underground, I had to get information in old music encyclopedias made in the USA, it was a pleasure and a privilege, it was how to find a treasure, today, anyone can have this information in seconds, even if you do not speak English, the proximity and immediacy of the information, makes the knowledge less comforting, it takes away some value, unfortunately, even worse, the immense Information flow, without a critical sense becomes a dangerous combination.

The so called Fast Food, "I want my food before 30 minutes or I want it for free", "Oh, and I want it at the door of my house", could be that we ourselves, in the desire to have our food delivered We could quickly be dictating to the big transnationals that we want those highly processed flours to just add water, those meats quickly developed with hormones, those frozen vegetables always available, we ourselves dictate the effectiveness of the poison we ingest "We want all the calories, and the we want now! ", we also want those instant muscles. For them to work for years, when with growth hormone, insulin and veterinary grade testosterone I can get them in weeks, also in that way we can accelerate tumors, leukemia and liver damage"! cancer and we want it now! "Girls want model bodies, diets become less nutritious than those of women. Ethiopians in the 80s, the fat no longer disappears by its consumption through exercise and the correct diet, but by using a scalpel and hoses to suck it, is not it enough? Fill the chest and buttocks with silicone and turn them into living Barbie dolls "We want the pleasure and we want it now!", all these just sounds so “Fight Clubesque”.

Even as a teenager, I phoned my girlfriend, I had to go through her mother, who always answered the phone "Ma'am, good afternoon, could you communicate me with your daughter?" It was not the most pleasant thing in the world, but you learned one that another thing about respect and cordial treatment, go thing complicated to learn today, adolescents send Whatsapps, and demand to realize if they were seen or not (and then invent things to see the messages without the other person know they saw them), the only ones who do not see these instant messages are the parents. Will the new generations be able to wait until the next day to know the outcome of their favorite series? Impossible in the Netflix generation "We want to know the whole plot and we want to know it now!", I miss those old comics that I bought in gloomy magazines stores in the city center, every Friday I took the bus to look for the next number, after waiting all week I found it glorious to find the newly arrived copy.

Some of us will remember that experiment with some children, in which two cookies are placed in front of them, without major distractions and they are told to wait 10 minutes to take the first cookie, to do it, another 10 to take the second one, the results show that The vast majority could not wait and took the two cookies almost immediately, the instant reward, but the real concern of that experiment, apparently funny, is that tracking the lives of these children, as adults, showed that those who do not they could wait were the most likely to participate in criminal acts or to fall into addictions, which could also somehow explain the naive current interest of millennials in "socialism" or what they believe to be socialism, have all the benefits as soon as possible, the "having" before the "being" and the "doing", the greater incongruity of the new generations.
